Pinoy Idol?

Ok, it might not be as great as the original American Idol, but what the heck? We gave it a shot.

Pinoy Idol is based on the reality show American Idol, where contestants sing their way into stardom. They held auditions all over America. The three sarcastic and lovable judges are: Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and the famous Simon Cowell. The show is hosted by Ryan Seacrest. And blah blah blah. We all know that story. But how about Pinoy Idol? The talent search is finally here in the Philippines!

GMA-7 just announced that they would be holding a nationwide audition for the first ever Pinoy Idol. The host is going to be Raymond Gutierrez and the three judges are: Ogie Alcasid, Jolina Magdangal and Wyngard Tracy. I only heard the news from my classmates.

My classmate Hector wanted to join, he is a good singer, he'd definitely nail it, I thought to myself. But he goes pointing his finger at me and saying "What about Gellie? She has a nice voice! Why don't you come along with me and audition too?" At first I was like "Oh, I don't know. I'm not sure that my voice is showbiz material." I kept on emphasizing that I couldn't audition because I suck at singing. But my head kept on telling me "Why not? Maybe its you're chance to show and prove yourself." Yeah, why not? So in a long and heated discussion I finally agreed to join.

I had to get all of the requirements needed for the audition, that includes birth certificate, parent's consent (for minors) and a full-body picture. The audition was held at the SM Mall of Asia on February 21, 2008. By the time we got there, exactly at 8:36 am, the line was already super long! About 1,000 people were already there! Talk about early. We were in line for about 4 hours, we had to wait until it was our turn. Hector and I, were exhausted. Sadly, we didn't make into the cut. But it was alright with us, we had fun, it was all about the experience. And not to mention the sticker as a souvenir! After that we went inside MOA and laughed our butts off about our auditions and had the time of our lives!

Drawings For Sale

Never mind the title. I'm not selling anything here. Well, at least not on the net. Recently, my classmates requested some drawings. Since I'm running low on art materials and talk about the manual labor! Its hard to draw! So I had to charge them. But at a low price, if I charged them with a high price then they wouldn't request anymore! That would suck. Bummer. I've already drawn 2 requests and I have a total of P50. Haha! I still have pending ones, working on that... The first one I drew was a picture of my classmate and her boyfriend. It looked so nice, I wanted to keep it. Here's a preview.
Its blurry. But nonetheless. The other one is a picture of my classmate and her barkada (means, group of friends). I don't have a copy of that one, unfortunately. I still have a lot of work to do. I'm being paid for it anyway, so I'll just get on with it.

I'm working on a project of my own. I'm gonna draw more doujinshi's and pass them to minitokyo.net. I'm a member there. I just don't draw much anymore, been kinda busy about other stuff. Like school? LOL. G

Guitar Lovin'


Recently, I've been learning how to play guitar with my guy. So far, I've learned the basics. I got influenced by my friends to play cause almost all of them know how to play it. I got envious. :-P But I also wanted to learn to play an instrument. Life gets pretty kinda dull.

I'm wondering if I could buy a guitar of my own. Probably a cute one. But nah. It's too expensive. I'll just keep on borrowing if possible.


I saw this cute pink guitar at Sanrio, Alabang; it was pink and had the Hello Kitty logo in it. Gah! So cute! G

Must Have: iPhone


The iPhone

The iPhone, Time Magazine's invention of the year for 2007. This sleek piece of technology combines 3 different functions into one; Messaging, Camera and your conventional iPod Music Player. Brimming with a 3.5 inch touch-screen, it displays vivid colors and clear content. Integrated with a 2-mega pixel camera, it'll surely capture the moment. Sound's better too, the iPhone functions just like an iPod and gives you clear sound for listening pleasure. Sounds great? Of course! Why else would Time Magazine rate it that much?

I've been hearing a lot of raves for the phone, so naturally, I was intrigued. I was searching for the perfect phone since mine got stolen. Why not an iPhone? I kept saying to myself that I couldn't afford it, its way too expensive. But then from a source of mine, told me that they were selling cheap iPhones in Alabang. He said that it only costs P8,000 (roughly $200), while the real market price was about $500. But bad news, they seemed to be smuggled phones and they spread all over the news. No wonder they were cheap. I wouldn't just take the risk of having one, I decided not to continue to Alabang to check out the said phones.

A day ago, my classmate brought his new cellphone-- an iPhone to class. He bragged about how cool it was and how hi-tech it's feature was. But when I saw it, I was completely flooded with laughter. It wasn't an iPhone at all! It was a phony Chinese imitation, it didn't really looked like the real thing! For one, it has keypads, iPhones don't have them! The camera only had 1.3 mega-pixels, and it didn't even look like a 1.3 mega-pixel resolution. The iPhone has 2 mega-pixels. Images have poor quality. So does the sounds. It just irritates your ear. Plus it had this ad on the back: "Let's enjoy our digital world www.chinamobile.com." Horrible. Hello? It was clearly a fake. Although he kept insisting that it was genuine.

I took a peek at Apple's Website to view this amazing tech phone. I took the guided tour and watched some demos on how the phone worked. I was amazed. It really functions well. Its like there's a handy PC in your pocket. Nanotechnology is outstanding these days! How can they fit so much stuff into a small-sized piece of fidelty? The touch screen is so great, it makes buttons look stressful. There are a lot of options set-up which can be handy at times. Over-all it just looks incredible, from the look, the design, function, sound; everything looks great.

But I know I could never have one. Why? I don't have money! That's the main reason! But that's alright, considering I need a phone that has keypads to send messages, I think its more convenient that way. I should just keep on dreaming. After all, I'm only a tech freak, but the simplest joys in life are the real ones that make me happy. G
