Typhoon Ondoy
Typhoon Ondoy
Last September 26, Saturday, the Philippines was devastated by typhoon Ondoy. It hit the National Capital Region (NCR) including Philippine's capital Manila and other major cities. The typhoon also affected neighboring provinces including mine, Laguna. Right now, Laguna has been declared under the state of calamity. Our neighborhood is still submerged in water, trash and mud, it has been 3 days. We were fortunate though, none of us were hurt. The death toll in the whole country is now over a hundred. We still have food and water supply to last for several days and they are nearby establishments that are open, where we can buy supplies. Others are stranded and can't even get out of their houses. The streets and even the inside of our house is still flooded by about 2 feet of water, last Saturday the water level in our house reached my waist. Good thing the water has subsided but it is still not completely gone. We're currently staying in our house's 2nd floor, we relocated our stuff up stairs so they wouldn't get wet. Carrying stuff was tiring! I had to carry parts of our computer! Thankfully, we have electricity and even internet connection!
Here are some pictures:
• This is the outside of our house when the storm mometarilly stopped, the water level got deeper. :/
• The water had a strong current, the street looked like a river from here.
• BAYANIHAN. Our neighbors helped each other in pushing this car to safety. The current was so strong that it almost carried this car with it.
• This car lost it's owner. It was being carried away by the current and it was saved by random people, just trying to help.
• This is the inside of our house, the first floor. It's been completely submerged underwater.
• My bro and my dad trying to save some stuff. They still had time to pose for the camera!
• Shot from the house's second floor. Eew... MUD and unidentified floating gross stuff.
So please pray for us that our condition will get better and everything will be restored to normal. Also pray for those who were also affected. Some lost their belongings and even their loved ones. :( This is just another example of nature's wrath, the one we've been abusing for years. God bless us all.
