On August 22, 2009, at the Performing Arts Theater of the University of Perpetual Help System - Laguna, the freshmen students of BS Nursing were welcomed with a red carpet and lots of camera flashes. That could only mean one thing;
ITS HOLLYWOOD!
Yep, you read that right! This year's acquaintance party was Hollywood-themed, inspired by the life of celebrities. Everything was there! The red carpet, the make-belief paparazzi, the "posing area" with the tarpaulin at the back and they even had the famous Hollywood up on stage to make the ambiance more believable. Ah, what a nice night it was, to experience being a star for a night. The freshmen were all jittery and nervous since this was their first major event for the semester. They had all waited all semester for this party and now they're all dressed-up for it. The girls had really nice dresses and some must've even paid a lot to get a celebrity-like look. The guys looked slick with their coats and cool fedora hats. I felt like it was really an awards night, just like that of an Oscar's.
• The stage with dark lighting. A band was getting ready to perform
• The Freshies before the program. They had really cute dresses!
• The hosts for the evening (which names I forgot XD)
Our org was invited at the acquaintance party to make our journalist oath, which will be in fact, the first ever in the history of Caduceus News Org! We also went there to be able to cover the scoop on the event to publish for our upcoming issue. But we weren't all about work! We also had some bonding time with our fellow staff. We also went there to have some fun. We were also stars for the night!
Rants! The party started a bit late though, the organizers of the event kept on rushing the preparations but the program still got delayed. Some of the freshmen started to grow bored. As for the meal they served us, we had KFC chicken burgers just like last year. LOL. A lot of people complained about this. I don't personally mind because it wasn't what I was after. I won't let a burger bum my night! The night seemed a bit frantic too. People were all over the place and kept going around, it seemed messy. I guessed the organizers didn't expect this much activity but they seemed to tame the crowd for a while.
Picture time!
• This was taken during our recital of The Journalist's Creed. (lol. you can't find me. i'm invisible!)
• The girls of Caduceus! LOL. I'm actually the tallest? XD
• The new faces! The apprentices of Cadu! I love them, so cuuute.
• Move over as the level 1 professors dance to the song "NOBODY" (sexxyyyy!)
• Its time to party! The dance floor was packed with Freshies!
• We were on the dance floor as well! Guys, Teach me how to dance. OTL
It was a fun party and it was an exhilarating experience too! I had a lot of fun at this year's acquaintance party since I celebrated it with my friends. This party proved to be successful, the freshmen enjoyed it and so did we, the Cadu staff. I hope that Cadu will have more activities like this in the future. I love my Cadu mates and I love having fun with them! They're like my family at school. Also, I enjoy being a member of a journalistic organization! I'm learning new things and at the same time I put it into good use. It pays to be a student nurse plus being a journalist! :)
