Gellie @ 18!
it was awesome i don't even know where to start. XD
Late blog entry is late. Yay for laziness? Haha. So anyway, here's my birthday report! My birthday was a blast. LOL. Wasn't even expecting it to be that fun. The idea of having a formal debut was not at all mine. My mom decided that I should have a fancy birthday. I was, at first, I was against the idea since I didn't like spending so much money on an event that had dancing and whatever. I thought of it as unnecessary. I'd rather have my mom buy me a laptop, I could use it for school and stuff. But I ended up having a birthday party anyways.
I celebrated my birthday last August 29 at Villa Mira Mar Resort. On that day we were having major preparations, finalizing every detail for my birthday. It was slightly cloudy during noon so were worried if it was gonna rain. The venue was going to held at the resort's pool side so if it rains, its all ruined. I prayed that it wouldn't rain, guess what, it didn't.
Here are my thoughts on it at first: I was kinda expecting it to be nerve-wrecking (although it was. sorta) but it kinda had a natural feel for me. I was expecting things to be uneasy. But it wasn't. On the moment I saw my family and friends all joined together to celebrate on that day, I felt happy and contented. I didn't care if I wore a pretty yet uncomfortable gown. I didn't mind my aching feet from the heels I was wearing. I didn't even notice I was sweating so hard in the spot light. I WAS HAPPY to see all those people, greeting me happy birthday and looked at me like I was really special. I will never forget those smiles on their faces, they looked at me saying "We're proud of you." It was a moment that I felt really loved. I said to myself "Hey, this isn't bad after all. I love this. The laptop can wait."
So thank you to all of those people who celebrated with me on my special day. I don't even have words to say how much I'm grateful. I want to thank God first and foremost for all the blessings I received on that day. I'd like to thank my mom who made this possible. Though she wasn't there at my party, she was with me in my heart. And to all the people who supported. THANK YOU SO MUCH.♥♥♥
• This is the gown I wore that night. I had it made a week before. Its so pretty. ^3^
So yeah, the theme was purple. Or lilac. Or lavender. You get what I mean! XDD
Its my favorite color and practically everything as set that way!
Fact: that bouquet is my first bouquet ever.
• Preparing hair and make up! Behind me is Rachel. She (or he) did a great job.
I know what you're thinking! LOLITSATRAP. XD
• This is me and my escort Jay Carl. LOL. Thanks for being my assistant that night Jay!
My mom picked Jay to be my escort coz he was from church and my mom knew him.
But I wish my boyfriend was my escort.
• My friends during the 18 candles ceremony.
They gave me really touching messages. They're awesome people. ;A;
• Me and Miggy during our 18 roses dance. It was awkward. LMAO.
But it was fun dancing with my guy friends. We were talking while dancing which lessened the awkwardness. I don't know how to dance so I ended up swaying back and forth. I was like a ship amidst a storm. How uncouth. XD
• I was overwhelmed. My mom, half-way around the world called to greet me that night, I almost cried when I heard her talk through the phone. TAT
• Ann, Nic, my best friend Vanna and moi. What's a birthday without balloons and cake?
Err... Vanna I know you want some cake but try not to be too obvious. LMAO.
• Edson, Me, Chelsea and Shane, sharing some cake.
• Aeron. Me and Miggy. Org mates!
• This was taken before we went swimming. I changed into another dress.
• Group picture! Time for karaoke!
• We went to one of those private rooms in the resort. We all went WACKY.
I had a really fun time during my 18th birthday. I realized something after: its that, the worth of a person is defined by the people he loves and loves him back. I am, after all, an important person because I am loved. I have family and friends. It doesn't matter how the celebration is done, what matters is the people who celebrated with you. No matter how simple the way it is expressed. Well, in my case, I wasn't expecting this fancy kind of party but still, the people in it are the ones that made it a success. That night I felt really special and loved. And I still am, I just need to look at it and appreciate it more. :)
